Cheap Dog Agility Equipment Is Available

Cheap dog agility equipment is something you might want to consider if you're thinking about trying out agility training. Because buying a full complement of equipment can be pricey, you may want to start slowly, especially if you're only participating in agility as a hobby. Even if you do want to eventually progress to competitions, you can still take it a step at a time and save yourself money in the process.

The most commonly used pieces of equipment are the bar jump, tire jump, and tunnel, so when looking around for affordable agility equipment, this is the place to begin. Start out with a basic bar jump and work on that until your dog gets the hang of it, then you can move up to a tire jump. Both types of jumps can be found for relatively little if you search your options carefully online.

Competition grade tunnels can be rather expensive but when shopping for cheap dog agility equipment, you'll find that practice tunnels are a much better option. They give you the same experience as the competition grade but are made of less sturdy material, so they won't stand up to the wear and tear of your dog's nails quite as well. Another affordable alternative here is using a children's play tunnel. These can be found for as little as $20 and will work just the same as the pricier agility tunnels.

Once your dog has mastered these pieces of equipment, if you decide you want to continue on with your agility training, you'll probably want to add in some of the more advanced pieces of equipment, starting with weave poles. Though not usually included in a basic dog agility starter kit, you can still find weave pole sets among affordable agility equipment. A simple, 6 pole set is a good way to start out without spending a lot of money. If your goal is competition, you'll eventually need to move up to a 12 pole set.

Other pieces of agility equipment include A-frames, dog walks, pause tables and teeter-totters. All of these can also be found at affordable prices, but you'll still probably want to move slowly, adding one piece at a time until you accumulate your entire agility set. This is the best way to save money, along with shopping for used dog agility equipment.

Cheap Dog Agility Equipment Doesn't Have To Mean Poor Quality

There are many websites that offer affordable equipment for you. A quick search will bring up several options. The important thing to remember when shopping for agility equipment is that just because you are trying to save money you don't want to skimp on quality. It is important for your dog's safety and your peace of mind that you get equipment made from good materials so you can avoid injury.

If you're good with your hands, you can save yourself even more money by building your own dog agility equipment. You can even find how-to videos and books that will guide you through the steps for creating home-made agility equipment. No matter which way you decide to go, always remember that cheap dog agility equipment doesn't have to mean flimsy or second-rate. It is possible to get good quality equipment without spending a fortune.

Don't assume that agility training is out of your reach just because you don't have a lot of money to spend. Do your homework and you can find good quality equipment at reasonable prices so that cost doesn't have to become an issue.
